October 18, 2014. The Big Day. Our Wedding.
12 PM: The Wedding
The wedding will start at 12 noon at the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen. The Cathedral is located at 5200 N. Charles Street, just south of Northern Parkway. There is a lot of parking on site, right alongside the southern side of the Cathedral. Given that it will be easiest to remain parked at the Cathedral for the luncheon, we ask that you choose a spot a bit further down in the lot to avoid blocking off all the good parking for the other services later in the day. In terms of dress, the wedding party will be in formal morning dress, but we expect most guests to wear what we have heard called “Garden Party Chic” – warm weather suits or blazers for the gentlemen and short dresses for the women.
Immediately following the ceremony: Wedding luncheon
We are hosting a wedding luncheon right after the ceremony at Tracy’s house, which is less than two blocks away. The address is 118 Taplow Street, and we suggest you keep your car parked at the Cathedral (though don’t be too loud about this to the staff – there’s a wedding afterwards at 2 PM). To reach the house, you cross Charles Street, walk half a block north, and take your first right on Taplow. #118 is down the first block on your left, just before you reach St. Albans Way.
In addition to really being the physical manifestation of our heart and soul, the house has been home to a large number of weddings over the years – from the children of the Collies, the family who owned it previously, to the real estate agent who sold the house to Tracy. We are very excited to continue this tradition of including 118 Taplow in our wedding celebration.
7 PM: Evening Reception at the Maryland Club
We hope you didn’t party too hard at the luncheon. Saturday night at 7 PM, we will be hosting a reception at the Maryland Club. Dress is semi-formal (in the old definition – meaning black tie as opposed to tails), so we’ll hope to see you all dressed for dinner. The women in the bridal party will be wearing long cocktail dresses.
Sunday Brunch: West Hamilton Street Club
If you hadn’t had enough by now, we wanted to send off the weekend in style, at one of the most charming but least well-known clubs in Baltimore. We’ll be there for brunch on Sunday October 19th at 11:30 AM at 14 West Hamilton Street, which is just west of Charles Street. Unlike the other events this one will be very casual, so wear pretty much whatever you like, though the club does require no blue jeans. Jake was pretty much born in a jacket, so we expect he’ll be fancier than you need to be.
